As usual the sun shone, although a little chilly, as Canterbury took to the field for the last game of the season. Missing Captain Jo, who finally made it on her honeymoon, Canterbury 4s welcomed Rachel Fairclough to the team and Julie Somers-Bayley, a blast from the past.
Canterbury did well to ride out the pressure of the first 15 minutes and then began to put some attacks together. Attacking hard meant we were left exposed at the back, often leaving Julie and Kendra to deal with the onslaught but they were up to the task and it remained 0.0 at half time.
A break away goal meant Brom Beck were leading 1.0, but to let the opposition go one nil up is a tactic that has been hugely successful throughout the season- on this occasion it happened too late for Canterbury to strike back despite relentless effort from the whole team.
MOM Kendra for keeping us in the game, but special mention to everyone who ran their socks off and did not allow themselves to be pushed off the ball, by a potentially more physical team.
Never giving up has been a feature of our play throughout the season and it is a team that has improved week on week, playing exciting running hockey proving that the future is bright… the future is green and white!
Bring on next season!
