Men’s Pilgrims vs Holcombe 2’s (Away) | 05 Mar 22

Lost 8-1

MoM: Josh Kitson

DoD: Take a guess

Holcombe Away, a game in which, we as a team knew would be tough as they were top of the league. A team with a lot of young fresh legs to inject some pace into our game gave us a good team going into the fixture.

As far as pre game preparation goes, Max decided that a bowl of chips 30 minutes before pushback was the best way to prepare as we all venture to the pitch, in which a very weird moan followed as he was promptly told that he couldn’t take them onto the pitch with him, while the rest of us got out onto the pitch.

A good, intense warm up gave us a bit of confidence in the start, with the game getting off to a fast paced start, chances at both ends came but unfortunately it was Holcombe who took the lead due to what we in the business call ‘a soft one’. Only conceding another 2 before HT was a positive because it gave us some fight and a slither of hope that we may get back into this… A umpire change just before HT due to the umpire “ pulling the muscle at the top of his leg” as he described it led to a tactical sub, however this unfortunately did not benefit us and we went onto concede another 2 goals, from a PF and a field goal.

Second half, we had to hit the ground running and keep our heads, but alas, just after HT we conceded a 4th and a few heads dropped but that wasn’t to stop the team trying, shortly after a 5th and 6th went in and we were just hoping it wouldn’t be 10 again… by the time the 6th was in, we had a PC and after the 3rd attempt it was slotted in of a rebound by Michael. This wasn’t the end as you can see from the score line we went onto concede another 2…

A result to quickly move on from as we go into a massive game next week against South Saxons.
MOM- Josh Kitson, been unreal since stepping up to the team (Ollie & Criag dont you dare)
