Ladies 3rd XI vs Bexleyheath & Belvedere Ladies 1s (Away) | 05 Mar 22

Lost 0-2

MoM: Jess, Charlotte, Kate and Eleni

A new week and a new line up for the 3s, away at a drizzly and very cold BBHC.

Canterbury started well with some nice passing play and a high work rate to ensure we turned over the ball high up the pitch. Charlotte, Vicki and Tilly made use of this possession which resulted in several open play attacking opportunities.

On the few occasions BBHC did get past the Canterbury press they had a decent turn of pace on them which helped them to win a short corner. Unfortunately after a rebound and scrappy play BBHC tipped the ball into the goal.

Not deterred, Canterbury continued to play an attacking game with brilliant link play between debutants Jess and Eleni on the right, and likewise with Munnsy and Kate on the left. Canterbury played with composure, with confident saves from Trudy and Freya not putting a foot wrong.

As we gained ground up the pitch, we won a number of short corners, but couldn’t find the goal, except for a disallowed strike from Ellie that was too high.

In the second half Canterbury built on the strong first half performance with a string of chances; Rachel and Alex took advantage of space in the centre to drive into the D, and Charlotte and Kate put their all into chances close to the goal but sadly we couldn’t find the back of the net.

In the final minutes BBHC broke again and managed to score from a deflected cross.

Final score 2-0 to BBHC but a great team effort from Canterbury for all to be proud of.
