The Grims are on a roll!
During the Christmas period the Pilgrims were planning how to spend time in the league below next season, now it’s “when’s the promotion party”? Three wins in three games has left the grims jubilant.
We turned up to AW2 on a sunny Saturday looking to continue the run of form since Christmas. It was a scrappy start to proceedings with the oppo having much of the early possession. However, some sensational hands from from Mr Prebble allowed Mr Keir to dispatch his penalty corner. 1-0
Following the lead, Blackheath began to dominate possession, leading to the Lee Cattermole of midfield needing to break up play, this gave him a two minute rest (DOD sorted). More frantic hockey followed which eventually led to the opposition scoring a short corner taking the score back to 1-1 going into half time. Following wise words from Ty Crane, Mr Prebble and Mr Keir the boys were ready to go again.
The game started to stretch, this allowed Max ‘shin pads’ Messenger and Josh ‘the Flash’ Kitson to get involved in the game. Their direct running was causing havoc to ageing defenders. Max eventually got bundled down by the keeper. P Flick. 2-1.
Continued pressure from Max and Josh down the right hand side allowed a flurry of short corners. Mr Keir took charge and rolled back the years with a 2009 style finish leaving him in a heap on the ground. 3-1.
The final whistle was eventually heard by rejoicing Canterbury ears, three more points. #thegreatescape
