Scorers: Riley Holness
MoM: Phil Jones
We was robbed – well actually a draw would have been a fairer result! Marden started strong and had good individual skills, but thanks to a solid defence were not able to make much impact. Millers gradually imposed their gameplan, passing around the back (a lot) until their forwards were tired (or bored!?) then broke through their lines to attack. It was through one of these forays, after keeping possession at the back, which ended with young Riley swooping in from the left to score. Half time came and after the break, Marden pressed higher which did give them an advantage as Canterbury sat back and Marden scored through a bobbly half shot/pass. Unfortunately they followed up with a scrambled goal which perhaps should have been cleared a fraction sooner! Canterbury finished the last 10 minutes on the offensive, but it was not to be. Hats off to the youngsters, Riley, Michael, Freddie and Olly who all did their bit, shepherded and encouraged by the multi talented Phil Jones. On another day, the result could easily have been reversed.
