ISCA made the long trek to Canterbury to play our ladies 1s. The Canterbury ladies were ready and raring to take on the challenge after a narrowly missing out against Slough last weekend. The first quarter was end to end with neither side being able to capitalize in the circle.
Canterbury went up in the second quarter with Mel controlling the forward passing and linkup between Dom and Lizzie to Alice who expertly slotted it past the ISCA keeper. ISCA retaliated with a penalty corner deflection in the 6th minute beating Becca who had already made a number of excellent saves in front of goal.
With corners at both ends Canterbury successfully scored with a hit from Madi deflected by Chloe into the goal. 2-1 to Canterbury going into the 3rd quarter. Another ¼ of end to end play with Lucy and Pinney holding the defence, Mazza, Lauren and Lara punishing the midfield and man of the match Jenks’ tireless energy along with Flora ensuring that Canterbury were constantly on the attack.
Victory was sealed with a final penalty corner goal with Lizzie grabbing the rebound following a Mel smash and 3 valuable points to the ladies. A big team effort, moving them 7th in the league table.
