Canterbury 4’s Vs Maidstone 2’s

This week started the league campaign on the back of a strong pre-season performance last weekend. There were a few changes from last week’s team. Morten, Hugo and Ben coming into the team.

Canterbury started strong against an experienced Maidstone side. We dominated for the first 15 minutes led by a strong performance from Hugo. Having started strong we had a few chances to break the deadlock but to no avail until Alan stopped his 2 year goal drought with a reverse stick shot into the back of the net. A few good saves from Andy and good defensive work helped keep the lead intact . The advantage was added to with a second goal.

The deficit was down to one midway through the first half after a period of pressure from Maidstone which ended in them scoring a back post volley.

At half time the score was 2-1 to Canterbury.

The team talk, led by the manager for the day Matt Lea, focused on moving the ball at pace. The game plan worked with some well worked unselfish attacking play. This led to a flurry of second half goals as the opposition tired.

The goals were shared between Alan, Ali (x2), Ben and Josh.

Final Score 5-1 to Canterbury.

MOTM: Hugo Corteen-Coleman.
