Squires vs Blackheath & Elthamians Highwaymen (Home) | 24 Oct 20

Won 3 – 0

Scorers: Rich Smith – James Cox – Tony Panayides

At last all the hard work of the last couple of weeks translated into goals.
Another tough encounter with a side really wanting to put one over on Canterbury. However with Jude playing his last game in a series of 3, whilst Mad Dog was sunning himself abroad (oh and quarantining on the way back!!) we reflected on what a good fill in he has been with a handful of excellent saves that kept the goals against to nil. Nick, Graeme, James, David and Jo repelled any advances and with it often set up the midfield of John, Tony, Rich and James. With time and space created in mid-field Oli, Finn, Riley and Robin were able to pass round the opposition defence and create problems for them all. Oli was unlucky not to have the deftest of touches in the back of the net as it struck the keeper in the chest after an excellent crash ball in.
Unselfish play from the younger members of the team created chances and then goals for Tony, Rich and finally to much excitement Coxy (senior) who we felt sure would be able to recount the glorious moment to Robin for all of the journey home after the game!
Unbeaten up till now and nearly the end of October – every effort will be required to keep this record in tack as we head to the coast and what we expect to be a young, developmental side at Folkestone who will surely test us.
