Scorers: Johnny Amos 2, Peter Ratcliff
MoM: Johnny Amos
DoD: Ollie “I forgot my shorts” Boswell
Another case of a ‘game of two halves’.
A conscious effort to retain possession begun well but a couple of sloppy passes out from the back were our downfall and Herne Bay were in no mood to give up their chances. 0-2. Heads didn’t drop and gradually the game became an even contest.
The second half started in a much more positive fashion, with accurate, quick passing resulting in a number of shorts. One of which was upgraded to a flick, but unfortunately could not be converted by Captain Wildman.
Heads didn’t drop and the deficit was soon halved through Peter Ratcliff’s cheeky reverse stick finish.
A momentary lapse in concentration saw the 2 goal margin restored but this was against the run of play. 2 shorts were powerfully converted by Jonny Amos and from then on there was only going to be one winner.
Chances were created but the Bay keeper was in no mood to concede a fourth.
After the first half it was a point well gained but on another day all three points could have been coming back to canterbury.
