Scorers: Gooding, Oberg, Tritton x2, Z Williams
MoM: Nathan Redman
After a tough draw away to Lewes last weekend, the 2s set out to maintain their 100% win rate at home this season. The game was thought to be a tight affair with London Academicals sitting just a point below Canterbury and coming off the back of a good win against Blackheath the week before.
With a strong 14 man squad, skipper Dunn was confident of 3 points and the team delivered just that.
After a tightly contested 10 minutes with both teams having good chances, Tom Richford worked a shooting position in the D which was deflected in past the keeper by Jack Gooding. The game stayed 1-0 throughout the first half with Canterbury squandering good chances throughout. A stern talking to by skipper Dunn inspired the team to put in a relenting performance in the second half with Canterbury punishing Academicals with brilliant counter attacking hockey. The defence were led well by MOM Nathan Redman in goal, pulling off some confident saves throughout the second half. This allowed the midfield to break with some quick fire passing leading to some fine team goals finished off by the attackers.
A positive week for the 2s which sees them sit just 4 points from top of the table with the bottom two teams yet to play before Christmas.
