Lost 2-1

After a very close loss last weekend, and some new faces into the squad, the Canterbury 1st XI were fired up and ready to show Bath what they were made of this Sunday. It being Presidents Day, the turnout was brilliant with plenty of support coming from the sideline. Canterbury started off slow, conceding an early goal in the 5th minute. They came back though with good attacking hockey, resulting in a remarkable goal by Toby Vaughan in the 23rd minute making it 1-1. A quick lapse in judgement and a slow restart from Canterbury allowed Bath to convert a penalty corner in the 24th minute. After some stern words at half time, both teams looked very up for the second half. In a very physical half, Canterbury upped the standard, but they could not convert this effort into goals. After an end-to-end last five minutes the game ended as 2-1 to Bath. The man of the match went to Toby Vaughan for his yet again solid performance defensively, and somehow, attackingly also. Another tough defeat for the team, but they will feel confident to go and get some points against Brighton and Hove away next Sunday.
