The 4’s travelled to old rivals, Holcombe on a wet and windy Saturday.
We went with a bare 11 keen to keep the winning momentum from the week before going. We started well with everyone keeping their shape and the possession we had soon told. One nil up after a fine finish from Glenn. We enjoyed playing the majority of the first half in holcombes half of the pitch and with two more chances taken we were 3-0 up. Glenn finished as accurately as always to get his second and the third came from Charlie at the back post with a deflected shot after a crash ball into the D from Freddie. 3-0 up at halftime and well deserved.
As the second half started and the wind and rain picked up the match became more open and scrappy. Our defence held strong with some great saves from hursty to keep holcombe at bay and frustrated. It wasn’t to be there day as chances fell to the Canterbury team only to be denied by the oppositions goal keeper and the referee who some how saw the ball hit Glenn’s foot after a sweet bottom corner finish. Think the rain affected his sight. Non the less it was a great all round performance with another 3 valuable points in the bag.
A mention must go to Alex Laz who again had a great game in the middle of the park.
